How to plan a month of social media posts with free AI in one afternoon

Free AI chat tools like ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude can be your marketing assistant. Here's a simple step-by-step method, with prompts you can copy.

Coming up with something to post every day is one of the hardest parts of marketing a small business. Free AI chat tools like ChatGPT, Google Gemini and Claude can do the heavy lifting, if you give them the right instructions. Here's the method I use with clients.

Step 1: Tell the AI about your business

AI gives generic answers when you give it generic questions. Start every session by describing your business. Copy this and fill in the blanks:

I own [type of business] in [city]. My customers are mostly [who they are]. What makes us different is [your strength]. Our tone is [friendly / professional / funny]. We post on [Facebook / Instagram / TikTok]. Please remember this for the rest of our conversation.

Step 2: Ask for a month of post ideas

Give me 20 post ideas for next month. Mix these types: tips my customers would find useful, behind-the-scenes, customer stories, promos, and fun or relatable posts. Include any Philippine holidays or paydays (15th and 30th) that fall in that month. Put it in a table with the date, post type and idea.

Delete the ideas you don't like and ask for more: "Give me 5 more like number 3 and 7."

Step 3: Turn ideas into captions

Write a Facebook caption for idea number 4. Keep it under 80 words, start with a hook, end with a clear call to action (message us, order now, visit us). Add 3 relevant hashtags. Write one version in English and one in Taglish.

Step 4: Get image and video ideas

Ask: "For each post, suggest what photo or short video I should take with my phone." Then make the designs in Canva, or film the video and edit it in CapCut.

Step 5: Schedule everything at once

Load your posts into Meta Business Suite and schedule them for the month. For most Philippine audiences, weekday mornings (around 9 AM) and evenings after work (7 to 9 PM) get the most attention, but check your own page insights after a few weeks.

Three rules for using AI safely

  • Always check the facts. AI can confidently make things up: prices, dates, statistics. Never post something you haven't read and checked.
  • Don't paste private information. Leave out customer names, phone numbers and addresses. Under the Data Privacy Act, you're responsible for protecting them.
  • Make it sound like you. Edit every caption so it sounds like your business, not a robot. Add a detail only you would know.

Which free AI should you use?

Honestly, any of the big ones works well for this. ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude all have free versions. Try the same prompt in two of them and keep the one whose writing style you like best. Free versions have daily limits, so if you hit one, continue tomorrow or switch tools.
